NASCAR Betting
How can you increase the excitement of high speed NASCAR racing? Try placing some bets on the race. NASCAR betting can be a great way to add some fun to a great sport and make some money on the side. There are basically two types of NASCAR wagers, Odds to win and Match-ups.
Common NASCAR Bets
An Odds to win bet is a wager on one or more drivers to win a particular NASCAR race. This is also called a Straight bet. The odds for this type of wager are very simple odds, such as 2/1 or 7/5. If a starting driver is replaced with another driver from the same team, the finishing position of the new driver will be awarded to the original driver.
Odds to win example: Jeff Gordon 7/5
A bet of $100 on Jeff Gordon would result in a payment of $140.
The second common NASCAR wager is the Match-up bet. A Match-up bet is a bet on the best finishing position between two competing drivers. The betting odds are represented by a money line. If one driver withdraws before the race, the bet is deemed a “no action”. The Match-up bet is for the entire duration of the race. If the race is shortened for some reason the Official Nascar/F-1 Standings will be used to determine the outcome for both the Match-up and Odds wagers.
Match-up example: Dale Ernhardt +170 Vs. Mark Martin -200
The favored driver is indicated by the minus sign, Mark Martin in this example. A bet of $200 on Martin to win would pay $100. A bet of $100 on Ernhardt to win would pay $170.
When betting on NASCAR racing it’s important to look at the entire race team and operation, not just the driver. Look at how they perform in the pits and if there have been many equipment failures. Compare which teams get the best gas mileage and which teams do best under different track and weather conditions. The type of track is a very important thing to keep in mind. Certain drivers perform better on different types of tracks.
Always be sure to do some research before placing a bet. Many amateur bettors just pick the favorite, but this usually leads to a losing betting strategy. Look for drivers with a good chance to win offered at decent odds.
